Advanced BroadBand Light by Sciton

BBL HEROic

Filtered light for pigment and redness.

BBL HEROic uses BroadBand Light to address selected sun damage, visible redness and uneven colour. Filters direct the light towards pigment or small blood vessels, with delivery guided by Sciton positioning technology.

Colour changes in sun-exposed skin

BroadBand Light for pigment and redness

Sun exposure can leave brown marks and uneven colour across the complexion. Visible blood vessels add a different kind of redness. BBL HEROic uses filtered light to address these separate colour targets.

Melanin absorbs light used for selected pigment concerns; haemoglobin absorbs light used for vascular redness. Controlled heating can help reduce their appearance, with the filter chosen for the target.

01

Sun damage

Accumulated sun exposure can produce visible colour changes. Filtered light can address selected marks in skin that is suitable for treatment.

02

Pigmentation

Clusters of sun spots or patches of uneven colour have a pigment target. The treatment does not assume every brown mark has the same cause.

03

Redness

Visible small blood vessels and selected redness have a vascular target, separate from brown pigment.

04

Overall tone

Brown marks and redness may occur together. Different filters allow us to address each colour concern without treating them as one target.

Inside BBL HEROic

Tracking light delivery across skin contours

The Skin Positioning System tracks handpiece movement as pulses are delivered. HEROic uses that positioning information to coordinate pulse placement across the treatment area.

01

Skin Positioning System

Sciton SPS technology tracks the handpiece position and movement in real time to support accurate treatment delivery across different contours.

02

Intelligent Control

The system processes positioning information and adapts pulse placement as the handpiece moves across the selected area.

03

Autodynamic Pulsing

Automated pulse delivery is designed to support consistent placement across flat and curved treatment areas.

How filtered light acts

Different filters for different colour targets

BroadBand Light contains a range of wavelengths. Filters select the bands used for a pigment or vascular target, allowing controlled energy delivery to the colour concern being treated.

01

Pigment absorption

Selected light is absorbed by melanin in a suitable brown mark. The resulting heat acts on the pigment target.

02

Vascular absorption

Other filtered bands are used for haemoglobin in small blood vessels. This gives visible redness a different treatment target from sun spots.

03

Controlled pulse delivery

Pulses are coordinated with handpiece movement. Skin Positioning System tracking supports placement across flat areas and facial contours.

Your BroadBand Light appointment

Checking sun exposure before filtered light treatment

Tanning changes the amount of pigment in skin and can affect how light is absorbed. Tell us about recent sun exposure and any sunny travel you have planned.

1

Pigment and redness check

We examine the colour changes and ask when they appeared. We check skin tone, tanning and medicines that may affect decisions about light treatment.

2

Filters and placement

We explain which filters are proposed and how pulses will be delivered across the area. You receive aftercare guidance, including sun protection for treated skin.

3

Colour response review

We review pigment and vascular redness separately. The response of each target helps us decide whether further BBL HEROic treatment has a role.

When colour overlaps with texture

Filtered light alongside fractional renewal

A complexion can have sun-related colour changes and a rough surface at the same time. MOXI adds a different energy target when surface renewal is also relevant.

Forever Young / Luxe Skin

In Forever Young / Luxe Skin, BBL addresses selected colour targets while MOXI creates microscopic zones for skin renewal. Combining them does not mean the two responses develop at the same rate.

Benefits of BBL HEROic

For those exploring BBL laser treatment in London, BBL HEROic uses BroadBand Light rather than a laser to address selected pigmentation and redness. Its light-based action can support a more balanced-looking complexion where visible sun damage or uneven colour is a concern.

A more even-looking skin tone

BroadBand Light targets selected areas of uneven pigmentation. This can help reduce visible colour contrasts across the treated area and support a complexion that looks more uniform.

Less noticeable sun spots

Light energy can help address selected pigmented spots linked to accumulated sun exposure. Making these spots less visible may give the skin a clearer-looking finish, depending on individual response.

Softer-looking redness

Selected wavelengths may help address visible redness and small vascular concerns. This can contribute to calmer-looking skin where redness affects the overall appearance of the complexion.

A clearer-looking complexion

Addressing selected pigment and redness together may help the skin look more balanced. Consistent light placement supports treatment across different contours, but does not mean every visible concern responds in the same way.

BBL HEROic suitability is confirmed through a personal skin consultation. Book a consultation.

BBL HEROic questions

Frequently asked questions

Is BBL HEROic suitable for my skin?

We need to examine your skin before recommending BBL HEROic. The pigment or vascular target, skin tone and recent tanning all affect the decision. Tell us about previous light treatments and any reactions you have had.

Can BBL HEROic treat colour changes beyond the face?

BBL HEROic can be used on suitable facial and body areas. The Sciton examples on this page include the face and chest. Body colour concerns are also covered by BBL Body, with the treated area and filters selected for the skin there.

Why does sun timing matter for BBL HEROic?

A tan changes light absorption in skin, so recent sun exposure affects whether and when BBL HEROic can be offered. Planned sunny travel matters too because treated skin needs sun protection. We discuss timing with you before agreeing a session date.

Is BBL HEROic a fractional resurfacing treatment?

No. BBL HEROic delivers filtered BroadBand Light to selected pigment and vascular targets. MOXI is the fractional laser option on this site, creating microscopic treatment zones for renewal. Colour and texture concerns can overlap, which is why the technologies sometimes have separate roles in a combined plan.

Can BBL HEROic be combined with another treatment?

BBL HEROic may be combined with MOXI within Forever Young / Luxe Skin where both colour and surface renewal need attention. We check whether the extra technology addresses a distinct concern.

How is BBL HEROic different from traditional IPL?

BBL HEROic is Sciton's advanced BroadBand Light platform and incorporates intelligent positioning and automated pulse technologies designed to support controlled and consistent treatment delivery.

How does BBL HEROic work?

BBL HEROic uses Sciton BroadBand Light, which many people search for as BBL laser treatment. Light energy is delivered into the skin, where it is absorbed by visible pigment and redness. This is designed to target those concerns while supporting the skin's natural regenerative response, with settings chosen around your skin.

Where can I have BBL laser treatment in London?

You can have BBL HEROic at our clinic in Belgravia, London. Treatment begins with a consultation, where we review your skin, treatment history, concerns and goals. That assessment guides whether BBL HEROic is appropriate and how your plan is structured. You can book a consultation online when you are ready.

What is the difference between BBL HEROic and Even Out Tone?

BBL HEROic is the technology, and Even Out Tone & Fade Sun Damage is our wider concern page for pigmentation, redness and sun damage. That page also includes Forever Young + MOXI, a combined pathway. If you are unsure which applies to you, start with the concern page. If BBL is already part of your plan, this page explains the technology.

What does the Skin Positioning System do?

The Sciton Skin Positioning System tracks the position and movement of the handpiece in real time. The system uses this information to adapt pulse placement as the handpiece moves across the treated area. This supports accurate treatment delivery across different contours, while your clinician still guides the plan from your assessment.

Is BBL laser treatment suitable for sun spots?

BBL HEROic may be considered for sun spots and areas of uneven pigment caused by accumulated sun exposure. We look at each spot during consultation, as some marks need a different kind of review before light treatment is considered. If BBL is appropriate, we explain how it fits your plan and the sun care you need around treatment.
